Vaping as a quitting tool
Quit Smoking for good by switching to vaping!
Vaping is a highly effective way to quit smoking and one that is supported by the NHS in their stop smoking programmes. But just how effective is it as a way to quit smoking?
Public Health England (PHE) conducted a major UK clinical trial, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), which they published in February 2019. The research involved nearly 900 participants and found that in Local Stop Smoking Services, a standard e-cigarette was twice as effective at helping smokers to quit compared with the quitters’ choice of a combination of Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).1
Why vape instead of smoke?
Vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking and carries no risk to those around you.1 As well as the reduction in harm, vaping also allows you to control your cravings, and significantly, maintain the rituals of smoking. Many smokers often struggle to quit because they can’t avoid the places and times they have come to associate with smoking. Most notably, during that first cuppa in the morning.
Nicotine is not harmful when inhaled (no matter what you may have read on the internet) it is addictive but NOT harmful. So, instead of having to deprive yourself during the quitting process, you can regulate your Nicotine intake and wean yourself off (if you want to).
Most people associate smoking with stress control, without understanding that the stress they are feeling immediately before lighting up is actually caused by withdrawal from Nicotine, not external stress. So, you’re relieving stress caused by the Nicotine with Nicotine rather than what you think was stressing you out. Chicken. Egg.
The ability to maintain your rituals throughout your quitting journey gives you a huge head start on quitting smoking. Addiction is a complicated thing and it’s never just one thing. You have to take care of every aspect of what keeps you addicted, maintaining your nicotine levels and replacing smoking with vaping will immediately reduce the harm you’re doing to your body and help keep you on track.
Switching to Vaping is a proven method of quitting smoking for good.
